Last week I set aside a morning to prune our ancient hydrangea macrophylla, but throwing away all of the beautiful stems made me feel guilty, so I decided to clone it. I cut the green branches into 6 inch pieces, trimmed off 1/2 the leaves, dipped them in rooting hormone and left them in a cup for of vermiculite, which I happen to have.
So far, two of the cuttings are rooting very well. As you can see, I've added started multiplying my mums and rosemary, as well. The rose mallow was a "gift" from a neighbor.
