When I plant perennials, I usually buy them small and plan on having to wait a year before I can see them bloom. So I can never quite predict exactly a new variety will fit in with its neighbors.
Sometimes I make mistakes, but I got it right with these two dianthus. They're planted right in front of the peonies, which will bloom any day now, which means an awesome week is on the horizon.
So pretty! Now that they're in full bloom I brought a couple inside to brighten up the kitchen. They make the whole garden smell very fresh and they're a fine choice for pollinators, too.
